玉名高校的渡邊校長、師長、同學們，大家好。
我是高雄市立左營高級中學校長林百鴻。
這是一個新的學習篇章的開始，
我相信大家都會有一個嶄新的起點。
從去年開始，不論是五月我們前往日本，
或是十二月你們來到高雄，我們一起參訪蓮潭及周邊的文化景點，
我們都留下了許多美好的回憶。
今年五月，我們將前往專修大學熊本玉名高中。
我期盼能再次與各位相見，
並祝福大家在新的學期裡有個美好的開始。

専修大学熊本玉名高校の渡邉校長先生、教職員の皆さん、生徒の皆さん、こんにちは。
高雄市立左営高級中学の校長、林百鴻です。

これから始まる新しい学びの章に向けて、皆さん一人ひとりが素晴らしいスタートを切られることを信じています。
昨年の5月、私たちは日本を訪れ、また12月には皆さんが高雄を訪問され、蓮潭や周辺の文化施設を見学しました。
その中で、私たちは多くの素晴らしい思い出を共有しました。
今年の5月には、私たちが専修大学熊本玉名高校を訪問する予定です。
その時に再び皆さんとお会いできることを楽しみにしています。
新しい学期が皆さんにとって実り多いものとなりますよう、心よりお祈り申し上げます。

Greetings from Helena High School!

I am Brian Kessler, the new principal of your sister school in Helena, Montana, USA. I am beyond excited to build on the relationship established by my predecessor and Mr. Watanabe. The potential for global connections that I hope we will continue to build will be of great benefit to all involved.

As you start your new school year, I am sure many of you are excited, anxious, nervous, and looking forward to what the year will bring. Like our students at Helena High, I am sure your teachers and school staff have been working incredibly hard to make sure that everything is ready to go and that you are able to dive into your studies right from the start. All of us involved in education await the start of a new school year with great excitement as we get to see former students and reconnect with them, meet our new group of students who we will be learning alongside this year, and start together on the journey that will lead you to future careers and success in the world.

With the new adventures that lay ahead, I hope the following for you:

I hope you have the opportunity to try something new and challenge yourself in some way this year. We never know what lies ahead if we do not challenge ourselves at some point.

I hope you are able to enjoy as many life experiences as you can in the next few years. High School and this time in your life can bring many great learning experiences, I hope you are able to take advantage of all that you can.

I hope you are able to explore. In Montana, we thrive off our mountainous region and the wide-open spaces that allow us to explore and connect with nature. Take time for yourself and connect with something that you believe in.

I hope you have fun. Learning and engaging with new material is one of the best gifts our elders impart upon us. Take advantage of these learning opportunities and soak in all that your teachers and parents have to offer you.

Good luck this year. As an old American Proverb states – “education is not preparation for life; education is life itself.” Grow and learn, help us in our goal to make the world a better place for those that come after us.

モンタナ州ヘレナ高校の校長を務めております、ブライアン・ケスラーと申します。皆さんの姉妹校であるヘレナ高校を代表して、心よりお祝い申し上げます。

この素晴らしい姉妹校の絆は、私の前任者と渡邉校長先生との努力によって築かれたものです。私もその関係をさらに深め、未来へとつなげていけることを大変嬉しく思っております。この国境を越えたつながりは、きっと皆さんにとっても、そして私たちにとっても大きな財産となることでしょう。

新たな学年を迎え、皆さんの中には期待に胸を膨らませる方、不安や緊張を感じる方、さまざまな思いを抱いている方がいらっしゃることでしょう。それは私たちヘレナ高校の生徒たちも同じです。皆さんを迎えるために、先生方や学校職員の皆様はこの日のために準備を重ね、最良のスタートが切れるよう努力されてきました。新年度は、私たち教育に携わる者にとっても特別な時間です。新しい生徒の皆さんと出会い、共に学び合い、未来への第一歩を踏み出す瞬間でもあります。

新しい冒険が始まるこの節目に、皆さんへいくつかの願いをお伝えいたします。

一つ目に、今年一年、ぜひ新しいことに挑戦してみてください。自分自身に挑み続けることで、未知の可能性が開けることがあります。勇気を持って一歩を踏み出してください。

二つ目に、この高校生活を通して、多くの経験を積んでください。この時期は皆さんにとって、かけがえのない学びの機会に満ちています。その一つ一つを大切にし、存分に吸収してください。

三つ目に、探求心を忘れず、自分の世界を広げてください。私たちが暮らすモンタナ州は、雄大な山々や広大な大地に囲まれた自然豊かな場所です。皆さんも自分自身と向き合い、心から大切に思えるものを見つけてください。

最後に、楽しむことを忘れないでください。学ぶこと、知識を深めることは、人生において最大の贈り物です。先生方や保護者の皆様が惜しみなく注いでくださる知識や経験を、ぜひ前向きに受け止めてください。

皆さんのこれからの高校生活が実り多きものとなることを、心より願っています。古いアメリカのことわざにこうあります。

「教育は人生の準備ではない。教育それ自体が人生である。」

皆さんが学び、成長し、次世代のためにより良い世界を築いてくださることを期待しています。
